He served his community for 15 years as a Mountain Rescue Specialist & Member of the Palm Springs Mounted Police Search & Rescue Team. Since 1992, Dr. Spurgin has been involved with the Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce (President 1998-1999) and continues to volunteer with many local charity fundraising projects.
He is a member of the Palm Springs Sunup Rotary Club. He has been a member of 3 different clubs over the last 20 years and held the position of President in one Club
